Lt. Dan

Quote from Forrest Gump By Lt. Dan:That's what all these cripples down at the VA talk about: Jesus this and Jesus that. They even had a priest come and talk to me. He said God is listening and if I found Jesus, I'd get to walk beside him in the kingdom of Heaven. Did you hear what I said? WALK beside him in the kingdom of Heaven! Well kiss my crippled ass. God is listening? What a crock of shit.
Anyway we have been working with Lt. dan rig. I turned off his tail and find it ironic that Lt.. dan has legs and no arms unlike the movie character from forest gump. I mostly just got his character set worked out today. I got that all worked out and saved it so that i have a good copy to work from incase something irreversible happens. I also worked a bit with animating the Lt. Dan rig but didn't get to far.
maybe next class I can get more animating done.

Working With Rigs!!!

Today in Class we started working with rigs.  This was really fun for me to experiment with the ball rig and try different things. Before we really got started animating with the rigs, we were told to "storyboard" or make an outline of the events in our animation. My storyboard had 12 different actions on it. When I actually started animating it I had to cut it down to about 6. The animation I created with the ball rig is one where the ball (a Female Ball) moves in front of a mirror and through different movements as it inspects itself, after checking it's front and backside it turns and moves away from the mirror. I got this idea because a ball is a sphere it has circular symmetry appearing the same from any angle it is also non gender specific. The ball rig gave us the ability to change the shape and orientation of the ball to bring it to life and give it some specific characteristics. It allows us to give the ball action and to try and give the ball a personality.

Hey Everybody

Hey guys,
So, I've been working with Maya for a couple days now. I am starting to get used to the controls and creating simple animation. I have been mostly focusing working with a bouncing ball and getting proficient at making a ball and making it bounce. I have also been working with different movements other than bouncing. Today we had our pop quiz and we created a ball that starts bouncing using its own power. We also used a ball to model lateral movement with a slight delay before it accelerated across the plane. Both these animations where really fun to create and tweak to get them to look natural. next week we present.. until then have a good weekend.
